Flash Orders, Explained: When You Need Help Right Now

25 November 20254 min read

Not every job can wait for bids to come in. Here's how Flash Order works on both sides, and when it's the better choice over standard bidding.

Standard requests work well when you have a bit of time and want to compare a few options. Flash Order exists for the other kind of job — the burst pipe, the AC that dies on the hottest day of the year, the thing that needs someone now, not in three hours.

How it works for customers

Post a Flash Order with a fixed price instead of an open budget. It goes out immediately to nearby available workers in that category — no bidding, no back-and-forth. Whoever accepts first is your worker, and you'll see their profile and get connected right away.

How it works for workers

You'll get notified when a Flash Order opens nearby in a category you work in. First to accept gets the job — so it rewards being available and responsive, which is exactly why it's a good early tool for building up your completed-jobs count.

When to use it, and when not to

Good fit: urgent repairs, same-day help, jobs where the scope is simple enough to price upfront. Less of a fit: bigger jobs where you genuinely want to compare a few workers' approaches, or anything where the price should depend on details you're not sure about yet — post those as a standard request instead.
